My Heartfelt Congratulations to all the members and staff of The New Voice Club on achieving 20 years of community service to laryngeal cancer patients and their families. I greatly value my membership in The New Voice Club and the fellowship and support of all the men and women who are members and staff. The diagnosis of laryngeal cancer has profound impact on the patient's life. Many difficult and troubling questions are raised; some questions to be answered by fellow patients. The Committees and members of The New Voice Club provide the essential human support and understanding we all need during this difficult time of hospital treatment. After completion of hospital treatment, The New Voice Club continues to provide support, encouragement and understanding as we learn to make adjustments in our lives. While some adjustment is physical, there are emotional aspects only other patients can fully appreciate. The New Voice Club actively encourages members participation in weekly meetings and activities, The New Voice Club actively encourages members participation in weekly meetings and activities, dinner and special travel activities. Increasingly, the Hong Kong membership is reaching out to fellow patients throughout China. Sometimes when I am walking or riding a bus, I will see another member, and we will smile or wave to each other. I find the very comforting. The New Voice Club has shown each of us that we are not alone. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to The Cancer Fund, The Community Chest, The Jockey Club and to all others providing support to The New Voice Club of Hong Kong. And my sincere appreciation to the Hospital Authority and the dedicated Nurses, Clinicians and Surgeons for your steadfast commitment to medical excellence and professionalism. Ronald D.
